DIY DECORATING A FRAMELESS BATHROOM MIRROR ON BUDGET
A framed bathroom mirror adds some flair, style, and character to your bathroom’s appearance. Frames are decorative, but that’s not the only reason why you should have a framed mirror in your bathroom. Other benefits of having a framed bathroom mirror or updating your caseless mirrors to include:
- Conceal De-silvered Edge
Frameless mirrors will blacken at the edges after years of use. Since the mirror is still in perfect condition, adding a custom frame to the mirror will conceal the de-silvered edges.
De-silvering, which may occur as a result of high humidity and continuous contact with water, makes your bathroom mirror appear dirty and old.
A frame added to the edge of frameless bathroom mirrors will hide de-silvering, protect your mirror’s edges from de-silvering, and is a cost-effective way to keep your bathroom trendy and stylish.
- Easy to personalize
Framed bathroom mirrors are easy to customize with favorite mementos. Updating frameless bathroom mirrors to framed ones allow you to slip your favorite quotes down the mirror’s frame. This helps you remember the unforgettable times, and the quotes can spur you to action.
Apart from mementos, you can express your style with a custom framed bathroom mirror.
- Versatile decoration options
Frameless bathroom mirrors add a minimalistic and modern feel to your bathrooms. This does not make room for creativity and different styles of decorations.
A framed mirror creates endless options for decorations. You can choose to decorate your framed mirror to reflect the current season or holidays like Valentine or Christmas, use it to express a personal occasion that calls for celebration like birthdays or wedding anniversaries or just to show how you are feeling.
This allows you to add personality and style to the bathroom endlessly.
WHY SHOULD YOU BUY READY-TO-USE DECORATIVE MIRRORS INSTEAD OF CREATING ONE?
A good reason to buy a ready-to-use decorative mirror is the variety of available designs. When you choose to make a do-it-yourself framed mirror, you are limited to your knowledge of designs and the expertise of what you can create. Choosing the ready-to-use option provides you with lots of design options, and you will find one that fits your interior décor style.
Besides the above, creating a framed bathroom mirror requires you to put in work and for you to have some technical skill and expertise. The skills may not be readily available to you, and you have to spend time acquiring them before going ahead to update your frameless bathroom mirror to a framed one. Opting for a ready to use option saves you the extra stress and time that will be spent on making a DIY framed bathroom mirror.
Similarly, another reason to get a ready to use decorative mirror is the professional finish and touch that the mirror possesses. A DIY custom framed bathroom mirror may not look as neat and professional as a ready-to-use framed bathroom mirror.
Also, most ready-to-use decorative bathroom mirrors have been made to be water-resistant due to the high humidity levels in the bathroom. A frameless mirror made into a decorative one using a DIY may not possess this quality.
MATERIALS REQUIRED FOR THIS DIY PROJECT
The materials needed to decorate a frameless bathroom mirror are:
- Tumbled Marble tile (two sheets)
- Silicone adhesive
- Clean Microfiber cloth
- Hand gloves
PROCEDURE TO DECORATE A FRAMELESS MIRROR WITH LOW BUDGET
Clean the mirror with the clean microfiber cloth to get rid of any dirt that may be on the mirror’s edge and surface.
Cut the tiles from the plastic mesh using scissors and separate them into pieces. Take great care in cutting to trim the plastic sheet right to the edge.
Open the silicone-based adhesive. Apply on a piece of tile and stick to the top of the left edge of the mirror.
Repeat the process, moving down from the top till you have covered the left edge completely with marble tiles. While sticking the tiles to the mirror’s edge, take great care to align the tiles in a straight line. If the tiles are not correctly aligned, it may make your mirror look odd.
Observe the alignment and adjust if necessary.
Move to the top edge of the mirror and stick marble tiles following the same process in step four till you completely cover the perimeter. Once completed, check to see if the tiles are correctly aligned and adjust if necessary.
Do the same for the right edge and bottom edge till you have your mirror wholly customized with a marble tiles frame?
Look closely to see if there are silicon stains on the mirror. Wipe off with a clean microfiber cloth, if any, as not to smudge the mirror. Also, wipe off fingerprint stains.
Leave for a few hours for the silicon adhesive to dry up and set. Once done, your DIY marble-tiled decorative mirror is ready.
